Manage slides
In addition to the slide editing tools provided to content managers, administrators can manage extra settings, such as slide compression.
Open the edit slide modal with the pencil icon, as described in Editing a slide or Bulk editing slides, and switch to the "Admin" tab.
You'll see three image files: the original upload, the thumbnail, and the compressed version. Each shows its dimensions and file size. You can click one to view it. If you have a selection of multiple slides, only the first slide's details are shown.
Image compression
The purpose of Awesign's image compression is to reduce the time it takes a signage client to decode the image. Weak CPUs may take too long to decode a large image, which may make transitions appear rough. Reducing the resolution to something reasonable, such as 8 megapixels, greatly reduces the image decode time. Large images are compressed by default upon uploading, but in rare cases, you may wish to override the defaults for particular slides.
To change the compression of the selected slides, check the "Update compression" checkbox, and enter a new maximum dimension. Click "Save" to begin processing, which may take several seconds depending on the number of slides and resolution.
If the maximum dimension is larger than the original slide's maximum dimension, the original slide will be used.
Note that your browser may cache images, so resolution changes may not appear immediately.
