Manage emergency alerts

The emergency alerts feature allows real-time messages to show on every Awesign display, taking priority over any other content to immediately deliver important information.

From System Administration > Emergency Alerts, you can view the current alert status and manually broadcast a test or emergency alert.

Automatic emergency alerts

Awesign is ready to integrate with a campus-wide emergency alerts API. Other UB departments are currently working on developing the system.

Sending and clearing alerts

Awesign administrators can manually send test or emergency alerts.

  • Check the "Show edit controls" box to show the form. This is just an extra layer of protection to avoid accidental changes.
  • You can enter a message, and optionally check "This is a TEST alert". Test alerts have a green banner that says "TEST ALERT," while emergency alerts have a red banner that says "EMERGENCY ALERT."
  • Click "Create emergency alert" when you're ready to broadcast it. Every online Awesign sign client will immediately display the alert.
  • You can clear the alert with the "Clear emergency alert" button.
  • You'll see the live status of the emergency alert on the bottom of the page, even as you issue your own alerts.
